Khan to Face Julio Diaz in Sheffield

It has been announced today that Amir Khan's next fight will be against former world champion Julio Diaz in Sheffield on 27 April, which will be Khan's first fight in Britain for two years. Last time Khan fought in Britain he faced Paul McCloskey winning by a sixth round TKO. In his last fight in December, Khan won by late stoppage against Carlos Molina in Los Angeles, which was on the back of two losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia, both of whom he plans to rematch later this year. Diaz is a former two time Lightweight world champion and last held a world title in 2007.

Also on the card will be London 2012 Olympic Bronze medallist Anthony Ogogo, who will be making his professional debut, as will Khan's younger brother Haroon. This will be the start of Golden Boy Promotions' plan to make inroads into the British market, which they announced after signing Ogogo. The fight will take place at Sheffield's 12,000 capacity Motorpoint Arena.

What struck me was I thought this would be at a stadium, 12,000 seems small.

No it's a good average size considering it's not a big name opponent or for a world title. Stadium fights are for massive shows and a big fight the public really want to see
