After a thorough review, the WBO World Championship Committee has ruled that the decision in the WBO junior lightweight bout between WBO champion Roman “Rocky” Martinez and #1 contender and mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Burgos contested in Madison Square Garden in New York City on January 19 was not substantially irregular or a clear misapplication of the rules of boxing resulting in a manifest unfairness, and therefore will not recommend the WBO Executive Committee that there be a direct return fight.
thats not surprising but the promoters should
Nope it wasn't substantially irregular. This is boxing. Guys get robbed on a regular basis. Nothing here out of the ordinary
Miniburgos is now one of my new favorite fighters. This guy deserves to get some more good fights.
To be fair, I'd be more pissed if Rocky Martinez actually got the decision and the WBO didn't order a rematch ... but thankfully it was only a draw, and the fans know who won anyways.
Burgos should fight someone better next. He clearly beat Martinez anyway and everyone knows it. Give him a big name.

It's a sad decision but we already know who really won regardless of the judges
