Former middleweight world champion Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik has decided to call it quits according to a local newspaper, the Youngstown Vindicator. Pavlik called out that he no longer has the drive needed to compete at the highest level and is concerned about his long term health. He retired with a record of 40-2 with 34 KOs. Pavlik was the Middleweight kingpin from September 2007 through April 2010, holding the WBC and WBO middleweight titles during that time before losing them to Sergio Martinez.
I had a lot of time for Pavlik. Such a shame he lost part of his career to booze and ill health. Really hope he enjoys retirement and doesn't hit the bottle hard.
