    Golovkin Stops Rosado in Seven

18 Comments by Ben Weisman Published on 01-20-2013 03:06 PM
Undefeated Middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (25-0, 22 KOs) pounded a game Gabriel Rosado (21-6, 13 KOs) into submission, winning by TKO at 2:46 of round seven when Rosado's corner waved it off. Golovkin opened up a cut on Rosado's left eye in the second round, which continued to get worse as the fight went on. Golovkin applied steady pressure throughout the fight, pressure that Rosado was unable to keep at bay. It became clear in the seventh round that Rosado could no longer see the punches from Golovkin coming so Rosado's corner mercifully threw in the towel.

GGG is a beast, simple as that. Rosado really didn't belong there. I dunno what got to him, he shoulda fought K9 instead!

Rosado should have been pulled out by his corner earlier, he wasn't able to gain Golovkins respect and ended up taking a bad beating.

Martinez should get past Murray later this year, then make Golovkin vs Martinez. Would be a really good fight and show who is the top man at middleweight.

GGG looked very strong. Rosado put up a good fight. Showed a lot of heart and technical skills. The kid can take a punch. You could see the philly style in him. GGG should fight pirog next. Martinez should be screaming to fight GGG and up his stock. That would be the best win on his resume since williams.

at the moment I see Martinez v Golovkin going one way and that's Martinez winning due to Golovkins lack of head movement, the only way Golovkin could win is by catching Martinez clean

Yeah I'd agree that his lack of head movement would be an issue but how much would the big punches take out if Martinez? Would be compelling viewing.

Golovkin is crude, Martinez would use the same game plan as he did against Chavez

He's not crude, he got good footwork. His way of stalking his opponent reminds me of Terry Norris a bit.

When he throws his shots he can be a bit crude and easy to counter. He would remind you of Norris as they have the same trainer
