Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KOs) dethroned WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido (39-12-2, 27 KOs) with an eighth round technical decision on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Mikey Garcia dominated the fight from start to finish. Garcia dropped Salido a total of 4 times, twice in round one and again in rounds three and four. Garcia was well on his way to a wide decision when a crushing headbutt broke Garica’s nose. The butt was ruled accidental so the fight went to the scorecards. Scores were 79-70, 79-69, 79-69 for Garcia.
Just been reading that Salido think Garcia quit and believes he was making a comeback. Anyone fancy a rematch?

Garcia was the better fighter he was winning comfortably. He didnt want the fight to end that way. It was a blatent head butt that a frantic Salido threw that caused the broken nose. Garcia was wise to not carry on the fight and risk serious injury. He immediately offered Salido a rematch Mikey can do no more
What a stable of fighters Grandpa Garcia now has
Where the fuck are people getting the idea that Mikey wasn't willing to continue. The doctor stopped a fight Garcia dominated for 8 rounds. He didn't say, "No please don't stop it" but he didn't ask for it either. And honestly would any of you guys really look a gift horse in the mouth?
Very unprofessional of Salido to be trashing Mikey the lad like he's done in the last 24 hours.Mikey the lad stated something along the lines of him being grateful to Salido for providing him with an opportunity, and that he'd have no problem in returning the favour. He also stated that the butt the caused the injury was accidental, not intentional.Lad's been nothing but good-natured and respectful towards the great baldy bastard, and this is how he repays him?
I had a strong suspicion that Salido's aggressive nature was going to come back and bite him on his bum against the methodical, economical power-puncher that is Mikey the lad.The lad fights in a very calm, composed manner and picks his shots well, and he's obviously dangerous at long range.I do think he showed Salido a tad too much respect when he had him hurt, because there were times where he looked like he had him stunned besides the knockdowns he scored. He's usually a pretty good finisher.
Rematch is appealing, and I'd strongly favour Mikey the lad to decisively finish him off inside five rounds if they do fight again.
