Bob Arum has stated that Manny Pacquiao will likely return in September to face Juan Manuel Marquez for a fifth time.
Pacquiao was angling for an interim fight in April outside the U.S. in order to avoid high tax rates – Top Rank President Todd duBoef even visited Macau as potential hosts for the prospective bout.
However, with Macau booked out for most of April and Pacquiao returning to Philippine politics in May little time is left for a tune-up fight before Marquez.
Arum has said he would prefer both Pacquiao and Marquez to wait until September for their fight rather than them have interim fights.
Marquez himself is rumoured to be looking at Jessie Vargas or Vyacheslav Senchenko as his next fight, on either April 13 or 20.
But if Pacquiao-Marquez V were to happen this September, it would need to find a date in a month which already has Mayweather-Canelo and Martinez-Chavez Jr II pencilled in for.
Arum has also stated Pacquiao-Marquez V would likely happen in the U.S. or Mexico, with the latter preferred again due to the U.S.’s high tax rates.
is Marquez a strictly top rank fighter or does he just promote himself?

Zanfer are pretty much Mexico Top Rank thats why, I think Marquez will take a keep busy then as long Arum doesn't try to interfere & get his way
Yeah same think it will happen - nice homecoming for him in Mexico plus acts as a bit of a stop-gap between Pacquiao IV & V
This will benefit marquez a lot before fighting pac again. Meanwhile pac needs the recovery time but the inactivity and mental disadvantage will hurt him come september.

Pac should fight in April even if it's against a guy who's not in the top ten.
