Broner to Fight Rees; Mitchell/Banks 2 on Undercard

9 Comments by Boxing Asylum Published on 12-30-2012 06:10 PM
Looks like WBC lightweight champion Adrian Broner (25-0, 21 KOs) will defend his title against former WBA super lightweight titleholder Gavin Rees (37-1-1, 18 KOs) on February 16th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. According to Rees’ promoter Eddie Hearn, the terms had been agreed on and the contract is pending.

Also featured on that card is the much anticipated rematch between heavyweights Johathan Banks (29-1-1, 19 KOs) and Seth Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KOs).

Funny how they made Banks-Mitchell 2 immediately when rematches we actually want to see get stalemated for years.

Much anticipated by who!! How the fuck does the first fight warrant a rematch exactly??

You can't get a more emphatic victory than what Banks did to Seth first time round. It's only happening cos HBO are desperate and praying for their Heavyweight hypejob to restore some much needed pride to the network after talking the chinny bum up so much.

Guys who are the victim of an upset early-round KO fight rematches shortly after the original contest if there's either a rematch clause or the winner of the first fight is willing.

In this case, while I don't know if there was a rematch clause, it makes sense that Banks would be happy to fight Mitchell again if a nice payday was on the table. With Banks now being Klitschko's trainer, he's probably ready to hang up the gloves soon (given his employment in Camp Wlad, he obviously isn't angling for an eventual title shot )

BTW if Mitchell's such a chinny bum, then 50K points says Mitchell wins the rematch. Are we on?

I'm not as high on Mitchell as I once was but I do think this loss was a fluke & I think he took Banks lightly. I predict Seth will catch Banks with a power shot before Banks catches him.

To be honest i don't waste my time with pussy points bets (no offence). But i'll gladly have a money bet through paypal with you that Banks wins again either by stoppage or points?

much anticipated by mitchell & golden boy but mitchell will probably win the rematch as banks admitted he was driven by the loss of steward and won the fight for him. So this is unlikely to happen twice
