Tomasz Adamek Wins Controversial Decision in Cunningham Rematch

24 Comments by Tommy Allan Published on 12-22-2012 10:38 PM
In what looked like a clear win for Steve Cunningham, Tomasz Adamek was awarded a split-decision victory. Cunningham was the boss in the fight through 6 rounds where he looked to be dominating behind his jab and right hand. Adamek did pick up the pace in the second half of the fight where he showed more urgency but Cunningham still had some good moments and looked to have won a clear points decision after 12 rounds.

When the scores were initially read out by Michael Buffer, the fight was announced a draw. A moment later, Buffer would announce a mistake had been made on a card and Tomasz Adamek was awarded a split-decision victory with scores of 115-113 for Cunningham and 116-112/115-112 for Adamek.

In the chief support, former amateur star Vyacheslav Glazkov from the Ukraine forced Prizefighter winner Tor Hamer to quit on his stool at the end of the 4th round. Glazkov who is now based in the United States moves his record to 14-0 (10KOs).

BIG surprise...i even had changed my prediction from TKO10 to TKO6 for Adamek coz i thought he was gonna blow him away. But it now seems his last poor performances at cw had more to do about being drained than being finished for Cunningham. I always thought he had a heavyweight's physique but the man can't punch. He never gonna get far here anyway.

It always bothers the shit out of me when people cry robbery right away all the fucking time if a fight is even remotely close.

I didn't actually see the fight. I was just commenting that I can never take 'robbery' cries seriously anymore.

Yeah, I thought Cunningham won the fight 116-114. I thought he landed the bigger shots with the right hand and that jab was big time. Adamek only fought at the end of the round in the last ten seconds. It doesn't matter though. Nobody that weighs 203 lbs was gonna come close to beating the Klitchkos! Adamek is gonna get crushed even worse by Wlademir!!

I scored it a draw. Had it 4-2 after 6, 6-4 after 10, and 6-6 at the end of 12. It was a close fight.
