In an interview with TATAME TV, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua talks his upcoming bout with Jon 'Bones' Jones on March 19th and claims that 'Rampage' Jackson ducked him as he was offered an opportunity to fight for the belt, but turned it down. He says:


According to (Rua) to TATAME TV (below, in Portuguese), Rampage was offered the shot. "The UFC thought in other alternatives, but it didn't worked out. For some reason he (Jackson) didn't accepted it", Shogun said, talking about his upcoming fight against Jon Jones. "I'll have to change my training because he's a lot different from Rashad, much taller, and it'll be a great challenge. He's been surprising everybody in the UFC, defeated everybody with easy, and it'll be a tough fight for me", he stated

Everyone knows how big Rampage gets when he's not training. No way he woulda had enough time to get in shape and properly train for that fight. I'm not making excuses for him, i'm not a big fan but he was right to turn it down. If he had lost to Shogun again he wouldn't get another shot as long as Shogun's champ
