After injury forced Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira to withdraw from his scheduled UFC Live 3 meeting with Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares, Palhares looked to potentially facing no one. Now, the UFC has made the announcement that promising new talent David Branch will fill the void and take on the leg-lock specialist.

David Branch is a Renzo Gracie pupil, and brings an overall record of 8-1 into the cage with him; two of those victories came under the UFC banner, while he suffered his lone defeat to Gerald Harris at UFC 116.

Rousimar Palhares (11-3) meanwhile has assembled a 4-2 record for the promotion. His only losses came at the hands of highly ranked opponents Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt. A win for Palhares will keep the Brazilian in the spotlight and the upper tier of middleweights. A win for Branch will likely catapult his stock through the roof.

You can watch these two wage war on March 3rd, when UFC Live 3 airs live on Spike.

This is a tough match up for Ferreira. I would be surprised if Toquinho lost this.

He's fighting Branch now. But even so I still think Palhares wins

Branch doesn't have much of a chance either. Palhares will learn from his mental mistake against Marquardt and come out hungry. I just hope the ref is on top of the action if Palhares gets a submission. He is not going to want to let go until he knows it is over.

Yeah I can see something getting snapped in this fight if the ref doesn't move fast
