Chael Sonnen has become MMA's most polarizing figure it seems, dividing fans like they're the separate tides of the red sea - either you love him, or you hate him. After his choke job against Anderson Silva this past August, in which he dominated the fight but lost in the last minutes, he had tested positive for PEDs. After being left off the hook by an incredibly inept California State Athletic Commission, Chael seems to be involved in another dust up, this time in the state of Oregon.

According to multiple sites - Bloodyelbow.com, the source here - Sonnen has indeed been indicted on money laundering charges and in turn pleaded guilty:

An Oregon real estate agent has pleaded guilty to money laundering in connection with a mortgage fraud case involving Vancouver-based Lighthouse Financial Group, which also did business under the name Crown Point Financial Services.

Chael Sonnen, 33, of West Linn, Ore., entered the plea Monday in U.S. District Court in Portland. He will be sentenced March 28. The maximum sentence is 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

According to a news release, Sonnen acted as the real estate agent in a transaction involving a home in Portland, and submitted a false letter and sales agreement instructing the title company to disburse $69,000 to a contractor for plumbing repairs. However, in a deal arranged by Lighthouse employees, $65,000 of the money was actually kicked back to the buyer.

Here is the actual press release from US Attorney's Office:

"This office will continue to aggressively prosecute real estate professionals who committed the mortgage fraud that contributed to this country's economic downturn and wreaked havoc on our community's housing market. We entrusted these professionals to honestly broker real estate transactions and instead, they defrauded lending institutions throughout the country and left financial ruin in their wake," said Dwight Holton, U. S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.

Marcus Williams, the Special Agent in Charge of IRS Criminal Investigations for the Pacific Northwest said, "West Linn residents, and other residents throughout the Portland/Vancouver area, can rest assured knowing that federal law enforcement agencies take mortgage fraud very seriously because it played a major role in almost crippling this nation's banking system just a few years ago."

Honestly I'm sick of this guy. He calls BJJ gay. Mocks every fighter, yet has never won a prominent MMA title. He's been caught in numerous submissions and despite getting away with potential cheating, he won't stop. As you can tell I'm not a big fan. Hopefully he keeps digging this hole deeper for himself.

He calls BJJ gay.

Really? wow.

You would figure some guy who spends the majority of the fight trying to score takedowns and impose his wrestling abilities on his opponents would have a little more respect for the BJJ practitioners of the sport. I mean obviously he really does as he makes an effort to defend against it. Sounds like this guy is more of just a straight up dickhead than he is a marketing genius. Like him or not, obviously not in your case, he does sell tickets with his trash talk.

He has been triangled while in guard 4 times now  He does do BJJ, says he dont but its clear he does...he attempted to escape Silva correctly, Silva just but on the armbar as well to stop him.

People pawn his offensive blabbing off as merely 'trolling', but it's tiresome and incessant.
