Manchester United midfielder Anderson has ended any lingering doubts about his future by signing a new contract until 2015.

Anderson has struggled for consistency since joining United from Porto in 2007 and had been linked with moves to the likes of Lyon and Panathinaikos over the past year.

However, the 22-year-old has impressed in recent matches for United and scored his first goal at Old Trafford in last week's UEFA Champions League draw with Valencia.

That goal was only the second the Brazilian has scored since arriving at United and he passed a century of appearances for the club earlier this season.

He has recovered from a serious knee injury suffered against West Ham United in February and is delighted to have been rewarded with a new deal.
Looking forward

"This is the best club to be at and I would like to thank everyone for the great support I have received over the years," Anderson told the club's official website.

"I am looking forward to winning many more trophies with this club and I am so pleased to have signed a new contract."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is happy to have handed Anderson a new contract and is confident the player will become an influential performer for the club.

Ferguson said: "We are delighted Anderson has signed a new contract.

"Anderson has developed tremendously since joining the club and he has fantastic potential at only 22 years of age, he is going to be a really top player."
