To my knowledge obama there is no mma amateur they only mix thier skills when they turn pro but i will find out if they do do a tourny or something

There is around here...i think there more comparable to an exhibition boxing match though.

I get the feeling that it is more strictly 'amateur' than boxing from what I've seen e.g. no strict uniform regulations and bouts allowed to take place in whatever arena (ring, cage, floor etc). I've seen bouts as exhibitions in kickboxing/boxing shows.

It seems the rules in amateur are more or less the same as in pros (no headgear and such). I suppose the only difference is that the fighters aren't being paid and I don't think there is a promotional company with an edgy title like CFC or Force sanctioning the bout.

There isn't a wiki article but if you google amateur mma there is proof of its existence
