Just thought I'd make a thread about this guy. Thought he deserved it. He was a Philadelphia fighter and a good one too. Very tough guy. Definitely one of the best middleweights of his era too. Along with Dick Tiger and Rubin Carter, he was the man to beat in the first half of the 60's. And he beat them both. He won 101 fights.

Anything you'd care to add Obama or anybody else?

Carter doesn't belong in the same sentence as the great Joey Giardello. Georgie Benton does however, who beat Giardello yet got robbed of a title shot.

Most of the top Middleweights of his era were:

Dick Tiger
Gene Fullmer
Nino Benvenuti
Paul Pender
Georgie Benton
Joey Archer
Laszlo Papp
Rubin Carter
Henry Hank
Terry Downes

His fight with Henry Hank was the 1962 fight of the year, but sadly a fight I could never get my hands on. :((
