For a sense of national pride and a lack of creativity, Irish and Irish American fighters have often been introduced with the word Irish preluding their real name. I'm certain there may be hundreds, but I'll just try to name the world class fighters that meet this description. If you know anyone at all tho, name 'em:

Irish Steve Collins (later changed to the Celtic Warrior)
Irish Micky Ward
Irish Jerry Quarry (also known as the Bellflower Belter)
Irish Billy Collins (Jr.)
Irish Joey McCreedy
Irish Bobby Cassidy
Irish Billy Wagner
Irish Bob Murphy
Irish Leroy Haley
Irish Pat Lawlor
Irish O'Mara
Irish Benny Cohen
Irish Wayne Thornton
Tony "The Irish Psycho" Bates

And the one and only, the great Irish Terry Conklin (from the movie The Great White Hype) ;)

What makes me laugh, is that the Irish Americans make a bigger deal about their Irish heritage than the people who actually hail from Ireland :D

I'm more Irish than any of them, and I couldn't care less.

Irish Micky Ward is one that comes to mind immediately. Being played by Mark Wahlberg in his upcoming film, Fighter. Christian Bale is playing Dick Eukland. Can't wait for it.

Those wins on Carpentier's resume sound highly suspect to me. :-?

0-5-0 was the sum total of O'Mara's professional career.. What's strange, is that Carpentier beat him twice (both 2nd rnd KO's) while in his prime.. This is according to BoxRec, so could quite possibly be inaccurate..

Yea it's most likely boxrec simply doesn't know all the fights O'Mara had. I imagine it's hard to find the full records of low profile fighters during that era.

Irish Benny Cohen added, bantamweight from the tri-state area. Oh yea, and he's Jewish.
